Faïence, grey-yellow body. An engraved motif of a young woman and a dragon emerges from the greyish upper surface; in the finished version, this surface is covered with emerald green and colourless glaze.

During his study trip to the Exposition Universelle of 1889 in Paris, museum director Josef Škorpil purchased the object as an example of Félix-Opat Milet’s manufactory in Sèvres.

The two plates, listed among the objects listed as “faïence side plate engraved” and “faïence side plate engraved and glazed”, they were shown in the museum’s original exhibition as an instructive illustration of the process for making glazed engraved faïence.
